Dr. Eric Smith is the recipient of the 2004-2005 Everett J. Gordon, MD Chief Orthopedic Resident of the Year Award presented by the orthopedic attendings to the chief orthopedic resident exhibiting Outstanding Clinical and Surgical Achievement. He is also the recipient of 2005 Pfizer Scholars in Pain Management Grant for important contributions to research and patient care in pain management and the 2001-2002 Jerome M. Cotler, M.D. and Phillip J. Marone, M.D. Junior Orthopedic Resident of the Year Award presented by the senior resident class to the orthopedic resident exhibiting Outstanding Excellence in Leadership.

Dr. Smith graduated cum laude. He received High Honors in seven clinical rotations and is a member of the Hobart Amory Hare Medical Honors Society.
