Dr. Sean Ryan joined the vascular surgical team of Surgical Specialists, P. C. in July 2004 after completing a fellowship in vascular surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Ryan received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania, his medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University and then completed his surgical residency at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. In addition to his clinical training, Dr. Ryan also completed several years of research both at Thomas Jefferson Medical College and at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Ryan has authored several papers and presented at many clinical conferences on general and vascular surgery topics. He has been the recipient of several awards among them the Pennsylvania Hospital Department of Surgery Excellence in Clinical Teaching Award and the Delaware Valley Vascular Society Clinical Research Award both in 2002.

Along with his vascular co-surgeons, Drs. Mattson and Patton, Dr. Ryan serves the vascular needs of patients at three hospitals, The Bryn Mawr Hospital, The Paoli Hospital and The Chester County Hospital and sees patients at four office locations in Bryn Mawr, Paoli, West Chester and Kennett Square.
